” Hello fellow Chemists!
I hope you are all having a safe and exciting school year!A few things that I’m really looking forward to this year is meeting our new members of the chemistry family and seeing our department grow together! I’m extremely excited to work on both new and recurring projects that CUSS has to offer to our chemistry community! I am also very privileged to be working with such a great team filled with dedicated, hardworking, and kind people. Our goal for this year is to enhance your undergraduate chemistry experience and are working very hard to do so!
I look forward to meeting you all in person!Best wishes!!

Jessica Bennett – VP External

  • Pronouns : She/Her
  • Year : U3
  • Stream : General Chemistry
  • Favorite thing in Chemistry : I’m a sucker for Inorganic Chem but truthfully nothing beats running a successful column with clean TLCs (clean NMRs are a close second though).
  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : I’m from Montreal and still speak French with an embarrassing accent but if you’re looking for fun places to go, I’d love to talk all things Montreal!

” Hey guys! I’m Jess and I’m your VP External this year. I’m super excited to be part of CUSS and hopefully make this year a great one! If you ask me, few things in life are better than a matcha latte and I’ve scoured the city for the best cup (a delicious but costly journey haha): Melk is #1 in my heart but the Redpath Caf does the trick too. Being on campus this semester, I’m looking forward to meeting new faces and to being reunited with familiar ones and without further ado cheers to a year of Chemistry, laughs, a few 345 related tears and loads of fun! “”

Clara Jans – VP Internal

  • Pronouns : She/Her
  • Year : U3
  • Stream : Bio-Organic
  • Favorite thing in Chemistry : Organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry
  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : Going for a walk in Outremont or the plateau!

” Hey, I’m Clara, the VP internal for this year! I got into chemistry because it’s such a diverse stream and it has so many different applications. I particularly love organic chemistry and molecular biology, which is why I chose Bio-organic as my stream for my Bac. I’m also from Montreal so don’t hesitate if you have questions about the cegep/uni transition! I hope you have a wonderful year:) “”

Maïline Fok Cheung – VP Communications

  • Pronouns : She/Her
  • Year : U3
  • Stream : General Chemistry
  • Favorite thing in Chemistry : I love drawing mechanisms especially the porphyrin synthesis mechanism from Org 3!
  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : Montreal has so many good coffee spots, so I’m always down to try a new one! I also enjoy going on walks with friends in the plateau or in the old port and to look at the pretty architecture.

“Hello everyone!
I’m Maïline and I’ll be your VP Comms this year. After more than a year of online school, I am very excited to be back and am really looking forward to all the events that CUSS will be hosting! I am in my last year so I have basically taken most of the required chemistry courses so if you have any questions feel free to reach out! I’ll see you all around!”

Amy Lin – VP Academic

  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : Biking around the city with friends.

“Hello, chemists! I will be your VP Academic this year and I look forward to representing you in academic-related matters. Academics aside, for me, the tight-knit community of the chemistry department is one of the major appeals of this program. So, I am super excited for all the events (especially the ones in-person!!) that we have planned for y’all this year! I can’t wait to see everyone!”

Clint Ashe – VP Finance

  • Pronouns : He/Him
  • Year : U3
  • Stream : Materials
  • Favorite thing in Chemistry : How versatile and diverse it is in application and research.
  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : Have adventures of any sort with my friends.

My goals for this year on CUSS are to facilitate and help keep the chem community thriving and making connections with peers and profs alike

Colton David – VP Social

  • Pronouns : He/Him
  • Year : U2
  • Stream : General Chemistry
  • Favorite thing in Chemistry : Organic chemistry mechanisms/synthesis
  • Favorite thing to do in Montreal : Honestly I love just going on drives with friends around the city and suburbs of Montreal. Even having grown up here I sometimes forget Montreal is an island, which make scenic drives by lakes surrounding Montreal after being immersed in the lively city even more surreal.

Hello fellow chemists! After a year of online school, I really want to make this year as fun as possible by planning as many social events for chemistry students as I can! I’m hoping to have at least a few in person events so long as COVID-19 guidelines permit and that we can make up for not really being able to meet new people in person for the last while. I’m honestly just also really excited to go back to school and to hopefully meet some of you in the halls of Otto Maas 🙂. Don’t hesitate to say hi if ever you see me! I think I’m a fairly sociable person (so I guess the role fits) and just a forewarning that I will probably manage to bring up either my addiction to coffee and tiktok even in a brief conversation! “
